Gouveia reflecting on impact of childhood growing up in Lowell and her decision to put people first in policymaking
LOWELL — The campaign trail brought lieutenant governor hopeful Tami Gouveia to the city where she was born and raised on Sunday.
Gouveia, who currently serves as the 14th Middlesex District state representative, made a number of stops across Lowell throughout the day, including the Centralville neighborhood, where she said she spent her “formative years.”
“I knew from a young age that I wanted to go into elected office,” Gouveia said, “mostly because I thought in my mind you go into elected office to fix problems, to make people’s lives better, to make sure every person has the opportunity to thrive and to fulfill their dreams.”
While standing outside Sampo Meas Hall, where she was invited on Sunday to attend a public forum held by the Cambodia National Rescue Party Association, Gouveia said she was letting the community know that she’s “a Lowell girl running for lieutenant governor.”
